"Old Red Wagon" (wr10)

Recently just purchased my first new vehicle. I had to custom order it as there were none spec’d the way I wanted it in the area at the time I decided to purchase. It’s a 2016 Golf GTi S, performance and lighting package. I was a bit opposed to purchasing a new vehicle as I was gonna go used. I wanted to treat myself to something brand new as I had the liquidity to do it as I have set myself up to be in a good financial spot.
Considered a Focus ST as well but the interior was very meh compared to the VW. Car is a hoot to drive in what little fun I’ve been able to have driving it. I’m still in the break-in period so I can’t push it much. I’ve been able to fling it around corners at speed and it feels like it is on rails with no tire chirp, tons of grip. I have plans for a few modifications, as of now I have only had the windows tinted. A tune, new wheels, and lowering springs will be purchased in the future. Only a couple pictures below from the day I drove it home.

Hooray another GTI owner! Great choice on the LP and PP.
I opted for 2-door ‘15 S myself, albeit without the LP or PP. Only really kind of miss the LP bit honestly, but that’s what aftermarket is for.

Enjoy it! I had a 2007 mk V and abosolutly loved every minute of it. I was in the market for a mk VII, with the lighting package but I unfortunately ended up having to buy a truck for work after my tuck got totaled by a family member. For now I will just wait probably until the mk VIII or pick up a used mk VII in a few years used. Enjoy it!

Congrats! Manual GTI S would be high on my short-list of new cars.

Congrats. Love that interior, especially the plaid. I’ve driven a non-performance-pack GTI and it was fantastic. Enjoy!

Great choice! I have a Mk6 now and I have been considering a Mk7, in very similar trim (swap Black with Reflex Silver)
Be wary of a tune; I went stage 1+ with my Mk6 and the clutch started slipping pretty soon after. It really wakes the car up, but I recommend having a bit more in the bank just in case.

Thanks! it’s actually Carbon Steel gray, looks dark in the picture. Yeah I’ve heard a few users on the forums mentioning some clutch slippage after tuning. I would like to go stage 2 with downpipe eventually but when I get there I will most likely buy a new clutch to avoid slipping. As of now I am looking at Eurodyne for the tune, would do a stage 1 93 tune as I am still stock at the moment. Wheels and springs are first though.
